Candle Holder Tutorial

Make this festive candle holder from clay targets. This is a very easy and inexpensive craft that you could make and sell in a variety of themes.

Supplies needed for this project:
3 clay target pigeons
Spray Paint
Ribbons and trim
Glue (I have tried this with Gorilla Glue and Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive, both worked quite well)
Sand Paper

Before you start, use a piece of sand paper and smooth any sharp edges or irregularities.

Apply a small bead of glue around the rim of one of the clay targets.

Place a second target on the first, lining up both rims so that they are glued together.

You can place a bead of glue on the rim of the second target if you feel it needs it.

Now place a bead of glue around the inner most ridge on the second target.

Place the third target on the second, lining up the ridges.

Your project should now look like this. Clean any excess glue. Note: Gorilla glue may foam out as it drys.

Allow glue to dry before proceeding.

Once the glue is dry, spray paint the candle holder to your desired color.

Using craft glue, attach a ribbon around the seam between the bottom two targets.

This step is optional, but I think it looks better if the seam is concealed.

Add any additional embellishments you desire. I used small red rhinestones around the top applied with craft glue.

Here is the finished candle holder with a ribbon tied around the narrow part.

I decorated this one with Christmas in mind, but you could do them in all kinds of themes.

This project was remarkably low cost for materials. A box of clay targets was less that $10 for 90. That's enough to make 30 candle holders.  They could even be used for dried flower arrangements.
