Got a Cricut?

You paid a lot for that Cricut machine, so put it to work. Here are a few ideas…

Make greeting cards and sell them. My sister recently made my mom a gift bag (yes, she even made the bag) filled with a variety of custom gift cards. My mom thinks they’re so cool, she won’t use them. They are on display instead. I think they’re so cool, she should sell them in high end gift shops. So why not do this yourself. You could make an assortment of about 10-20 gift cards, mostly birthdays and maybe a few thank-yous, anniversaries and all occasions. Take them around to a few shops and talk to the owner. Be prepared to suggest a retail price and sell to the shop at around half that price. Be flexible. Negotiate. Maybe they only want birthday cards or cards in certain colors. Tell them you’ll bring back samples they might prefer. Leave a few samples for them as a courtesy, but if you do, be sure to leave a business card as well. You can also sell online or at craft shows.  Whatever you do, don’t forget Christmas cards!

Create a custom wedding invitation business. Make several samples in a variety of styles. Take them to wedding shows and fairs. Take them to businesses in the wedding industry (florists, planners, cake decorators, boutiques). Create a website and get more sales. You can get free web space all over the place. Boost your earnings even more by placing affiliate ads on your webpage.

Any caterers in your area? Show them how you can create custom name cards in a variety of themes.

Teach greeting card seminars. Have guests bring photos from home to include in their cards. This would be great at Christmas time. You provide everything needed and they pay a fee to attend. Treat it like Avon or Pampered Chef. Become a hostess for other peoples parties. Demonstrate some techniques and have packages ready for purchase, with instructions included.
